If not, why not?
I can't be the only one who thinks this car has some serious cool car potential with a hint of "what a piece of junk!"

Yes
The movie was called 30 Minutes or Less
The car was an 87-93 Mustang LX 5.0 5 speed
The movie sucked though

I think more Cutlasses or Skylarks should be hero cars. I've seen plenty of Ponchos and Chevys; I want to see more Buick and Olds.

I would make a comment about it looking bland and uninteresting, but Robocop had a Taurus so what do I know?

Ford probably could've sold more Tauruses if they had a "sparks like crazy on ramps" feature

The Fox went from "Not being a hero car" to "crap movie hero car"

As a kid I recall thinking the Taurus looked like some kind of awesome future-mobile. I was a dumb kid.

Because the SN-95 is better in every imaginable way

I think Foriegner needs to re-do Jukebox Hero.

You just listed one way that it is better. It also has a much nicer interior and the modular engine kicks ass. I believe the body was lighter as well.

Pretty: Subjective
Interior: Stripped
Modular: Meh, it's alright but I'm a 5.0 fan. A similarly modded 5.0'll make about as much as a 4.6
Weight: Strong disagreement there. Foxes were ~100lbs lighter than the SN95 (each progression got a bit wider and a bit longer)

In my experience that happens after many years without new shocks anyway.

I actually prefer the fox body look over the SN95 design.

IMO the SN95's lines really only came together on the Cobra, either in blue or black. They weren't too fast factory but man did they look mean
The new edge is just...a whole different mess

I don't think it should count if they bailed on the car when they wanted a fast one.

The 1984 movie Starman had a Mustang Cobra II as the hero car.
It's not what you asked for, but it's kinda close.

Clarice Starling drove a Fox body in Silence of the Lambs. Also possibly in Hannibal, I don't remember, but probably.
